2026 A-Level Exam Dates: Overview

The 2026 Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level exams span from 2 June to 27 November 2026. The exam period is divided into three phases: mid-year Mother Tongue Language papers in June and July, science practical exams in October, and the main written papers from 2 to 27 November. For most JC2 students, the core exam window is the 26 days between 2 and 27 November.

How we count: this timetable covers 64 syllabus options (across H1, H2 and H3 levels) and 154 individually-dated papers. You may see other sites quote a higher figure such as "181 exam sessions" โ€” that counts every shift and session slot separately (a science practical run across three shifts on one day becomes three sessions). We count each practical once, because all candidates in a subject sit the same paper. Both figures are correct; they simply measure different things.

Countdown snapshot (as of 19 July 2026): science practicals begin in about 87 days (14 Oct), the main written window opens in about 106 days (2 Nov), and the final paper is in about 131 days (27 Nov). For a live, self-updating countdown to your own papers, use the interactive tool below.

How do I add these to Google Calendar?

There are two ways, depending on whether you want a few papers or all of them:

One paper at a time (quickest). On any exam in your timetable above, tap ๐Ÿ“… Add to Google Calendar. Google Calendar opens with that paper's title, date and Singapore time already filled in โ€” just press Save. No download needed; best when you only want a handful of papers.

Your whole schedule at once. Google Calendar can't add many events from a single link, so use the calendar file:

  1. Tap ๐Ÿ“… Add to calendar (.ics) above to download your personalised file.
  2. On a computer, open Google Calendar โ†’ the gear icon โ†’ Settings โ†’ Import & export.
  3. Choose the downloaded .ics file, pick which calendar to add it to, and select Import. Every paper appears as an event, each in Singapore time.

Apple Calendar and Outlook open the same .ics file directly. On a phone, download the file and open it with your calendar app.

2026 A-Level Revision Timeline for Singapore JC Students

Planning your revision around the exam timetable is critical. Here is a month-by-month guide to help you prepare effectively for the 2026 A-Level exams.

March โ€“ May: Content Mastery

Focus on completing the JC2 syllabus and building strong content foundations. Start compiling summary notes for each topic. This is the best time to address weak areas before the school preliminary exams.

June โ€“ July: Mid-Year Papers & Intensive Revision

Mother Tongue written papers begin on 2 June. Use the June holidays to transition from content learning to active revision. Begin practising past-year papers under timed conditions. MTL oral exams run in July โ€” prepare with regular speaking practice.

August โ€“ September: Preliminary Exams

Most JCs hold preliminary exams between August and September. Treat these as your dress rehearsal. After prelims, analyse your mistakes systematically and focus revision on your weakest topics. Science students should begin preparing for October practicals.

October: Science Practicals & Final Push

H2 Chemistry Practical is on 14 October, Physics on 19 October, and Biology on 22 October. After practicals, you have approximately 10 days before written papers begin on 2 November. This is your final intensive revision window.

November: The Main Exam Window

Written papers run from 2 to 27 November. General Paper kicks off the season on 2 November, and the final paper (Physics P1) is on 27 November. Between papers, focus on targeted revision for upcoming subjects rather than trying to cover everything.

2026 A-Level Exam Dates โ€” Frequently Asked Questions

The 2026 Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level exams start on 2 June 2026 with Mother Tongue Language written papers (Chinese, Malay, Tamil). Oral exams run 8โ€“15 July. Science practicals are in October. The main written exam window runs from 2 November to 27 November 2026.

The final 2026 A-Level paper is H1/H2 Physics Paper 1 (MCQ) on Friday, 27 November 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. After that, A-Level results are typically released in late February 2027.

The full 2026 A-Level exam period spans 179 days, from 2 June (Mother Tongue written) to 27 November (Physics MCQ). For most JC2 students, the core written exam window is 26 days from 2 to 27 November, plus science practicals in mid-October.

As of 19 July 2026, there are 106 days until the main written exam window opens on 2 November 2026 (General Paper Paper 1), and 131 days until the very last paper ends (H2/H1 Physics Paper 1 on 27 November). The 2026 A-Level results are expected to be released in late February 2027, based on historical patterns. The exact date will be announced by SEAB and MOE closer to the release. Once results are out, you can work out your rank points (UAS) to see which NUS, NTU and SMU courses they reach.

SEAB requires you to report to your examination centre at least 30 minutes before the paper starts, and to be seated at your assigned desk at least 15 minutes before it begins. For Listening Comprehension papers (Mother Tongue and foreign languages) you must be seated at least 30 minutes before. Allow for travel delays: you will not be given any make-up time if you are late, and if you arrive after the paper has ended you will be marked "Absent". Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 4.1).

If you report late, you are not given any make-up or extra time โ€” you simply lose the time you missed. If you reach the centre only after the paper has already ended, you will not be allowed to sit it and will receive an "Absent" grade for that subject. Science practicals are stricter: if you report after the reporting time for your allocated shift, you may not be allowed to sit the practical at all. If something delays you, still get to your centre as quickly as you safely can. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 4.1 and 7.3).

SEAB has a Major Disruptions policy that covers train service disruptions, massive traffic jams and floods on an examination day. First, still make your way to your designated centre โ€” if you arrive before the paper ends, you are given the full paper duration. If you cannot reach your designated centre before the paper ends, you may instead go to the nearest examination centre to sit the paper. In a major MRT disruption you do not need an excuse letter or travel chit from the station โ€” follow the station's bridging-transport instructions. School candidates should inform their school; private candidates should notify SEAB. Note that for Science practical, Music practical, Art and foreign-language papers you must still report to your designated centre. SEAB lists exam centres near MRT/LRT stations on its train disruption advice page. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 5.3).

Bring your hardcopy entry proof and your photo identification (NRIC, FIN or passport) โ€” both must be placed on your desk throughout the paper โ€” along with permitted stationery, an approved calculator for papers where one is allowed, and any subject-specific materials your school has told you to prepare. Leave unauthorised items out of the exam premises entirely: mobile phones, smart watches, fitness trackers, earbuds, and any notes or reference materials. Confirm the exact permitted-items list with your school or the SEAB regulations (section 3) before exam day.

Only calculator models on SEAB's approved list may be used, and only in papers where calculators are permitted (they are not allowed in General Paper, for example). You are responsible for your calculator working โ€” a malfunction is not accepted as grounds for special consideration โ€” and any formulae, notes or covers with information must be removed. Check the current SEAB approved-calculator list and bring fresh batteries. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 3.17โ€“3.18).

If you are well enough, sit the paper โ€” you generally must complete at least 50% of a subject's paper weighting to be eligible for special consideration (SC). See a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council and get a medical certificate or letter that states a diagnosis and covers the exam date; MCs without a diagnosis are not accepted. Tell your school before the paper starts or immediately after (school candidates), or notify SEAB (private candidates), and submit the SC application with documents within 3 working days of the affected paper โ€” by 2 December 2026 for the year-end papers. If you are hospitalised or have a contagious illness, inform your school or SEAB after seeing a doctor; SEAB may arrange for you to sit the paper in hospital or at a designated centre. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 5.1โ€“5.2).

Yes โ€” private candidates sit the same papers on the same dates shown in this timetable. However, registration windows, examination-centre assignment and some administrative steps differ from school candidates. Refer to SEAB for private-candidate registration details and deadlines.

This calendar shows the current science syllabuses that 2026 A-Level candidates sit โ€” H2 Chemistry (9729), H2 Physics (9749) and H2 Biology (9744). SEAB has also published revised science syllabuses (Chemistry 9476, Physics 9478, Biology 9477) for future cohorts; they are not shown here because they are not what this year's students are examined on. H2 Mathematics (9758) and H2 Economics (9570) were not revised. A revised H2 Art syllabus (9357) has also been published for future cohorts and is not shown in the main timetable above. Note that the codes 9820, 9814, 9813, 9816 and 9809 are H3 subjects (H3 Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics) โ€” advanced extension papers taken alongside the matching H2 subject, not revised H2 syllabuses. If in doubt, confirm your syllabus code with your JC.

For 2026, A-Level candidates sit the current science syllabuses: H2 Chemistry 9729, H2 Physics 9749 and H2 Biology 9744. Those are the codes shown throughout this timetable. SEAB has published revised versions (Chemistry 9476, Physics 9478, Biology 9477) for subsequent cohorts, so you may see those codes referenced elsewhere โ€” but if you are sitting your A-Levels this year, the current codes above are the ones that apply to you. H2 Mathematics (9758) and H2 Economics (9570) were not revised. Confirm your exact syllabus with your JC if you are unsure.
