The 2026 examination season runs for 179 days, from 2 June to 27 November, but the workload is nowhere near evenly spread. Counting all 154 papers across all 64 subjects, this is how they fall.
Roughly two thirds of the entire examination season is compressed into the final four weeks. Everything before November is either a language paper, an oral, or a practical, which is why a plan built around "the A-Levels start in November" tends to under-prepare students for June, September and October.
No national papers are scheduled in this window. It is the last stretch in which you can still be learning content rather than retrieving it. The practical implication of the timetable is that Mother Tongue candidates lose most of June to a live examination, so any content still shaky by late May tends to stay shaky until the September holidays.
Nine papers fall in June and thirteen in July. H1 Mother Tongue written papers open the season on 2 June, listening comprehension follows on 7 July, and oral examinations run from 8 to 15 July. H2 Theatre Studies and Drama practicals occupy six days from 13 to 20 July.
If you take Mother Tongue, the June holidays are not a free revision block. If you do not, they are the longest uninterrupted stretch you will get before the prelims, and the timetable will not offer another one.
Preliminary examinations are set by each junior college, not by SEAB. They do not appear in the national timetable, they are not published centrally, and the dates differ from school to school. Most JCs hold them between late August and mid September. Your own school calendar is the only authority on this, which is why searching for a national prelim date returns nothing official.
What is nationally scheduled in September: foreign language orals on 23, 24 and 25 September, H2 Music practicals from 28 to 30 September, and foreign language written papers on 30 September. Fifteen papers in total, all of them affecting a narrow group of candidates.
H2 Computing Paper 2 is on 7 October. The science practicals follow: Chemistry on 14 October, Physics on 19 October, Biology on 22 October, each conducted in three shifts at a centre SEAB assigns to you individually.
Then comes the single most useful structural fact in the whole timetable. From the last science practical on 22 October to the first written paper on 2 November there are eleven clear days. For a science student this is the only substantial block of unexamined time between the start of practicals and the end of the season, and it arrives after months in which practical preparation has usually crowded out written revision.
Written papers run from 2 to 27 November. That is a 26-day window containing only 19 actual exam days, so seven days carry no papers at all nationally, though which of those are free for you depends entirely on your subject combination.
The load is front-heavy. The first week alone (2 to 6 November) carries General Paper, both H1 and H2 Mathematics Paper 1, Economics Paper 1, Literature, Knowledge and Inquiry and the Mother Tongue Language and Literature papers. 5 November is the densest day in the entire season with twelve different papers scheduled, although no individual candidate sits more than a handful of them.
The season closes with H1 and H2 Physics Paper 1 on the morning of 27 November. Most candidates finish earlier: a student taking Chemistry, Biology, General Paper, Mathematics and Economics is done on 26 November, and many arts combinations finish sooner still.
This page is a schedule, not a study plan. How long any subject needs depends on your own starting point, and the timetable says nothing about prelim results, school study breaks or the pace of your own cohort. Two things it does settle definitively: which days you sit papers, and how much clear time falls between them. Everything else is a judgement for you, your tutors and your school.
The 2026 Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level exams start on 2 June 2026 with Mother Tongue Language written papers (Chinese, Malay, Tamil). Oral exams run 8โ15 July. Science practicals are in October. The main written exam window runs from 2 November to 27 November 2026.
The final 2026 A-Level paper is H1/H2 Physics Paper 1 (MCQ) on Friday, 27 November 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. After that, A-Level results are typically released in late February 2027.
The full 2026 A-Level exam period spans 179 days, from 2 June (Mother Tongue written) to 27 November (Physics MCQ). For most JC2 students, the core written exam window is 26 days from 2 to 27 November, plus science practicals in mid-October.
As of 8 September 2026, there are 55 days until the main written exam window opens on 2 November 2026 (General Paper Paper 1), and 80 days until the very last paper ends (H2/H1 Physics Paper 1 on 27 November). Science practicals begin earlier, in mid-October. For a live, self-updating count, see the countdown at the top of this page or select your own subjects in the tool below for a countdown to your specific papers.
As of 8 September 2026, General Paper Paper 1 (2 November 2026) is 55 days away, and Paper 2 (4 November 2026) is 57 days away.
As of 8 September 2026, H2 Mathematics Paper 1 (3 November 2026) is 56 days away, and Paper 2 (6 November 2026) is 59 days away.
As of 8 September 2026, H2 Economics Paper 1 / CSQ (5 November 2026) is 58 days away, and Paper 2 / Essays (16 November 2026) is 69 days away.

As of 8 September 2026, the H2 Physics Practical (19 October 2026) is 41 days away, the earliest Physics paper. The written papers follow in November (Paper 2 on 13 Nov, Paper 3 on 17 Nov, Paper 1 MCQ on 27 Nov, the very last paper of the season).
The 2026 A-Level results are expected to be released in late February 2027, based on historical patterns. The exact date will be announced by SEAB and MOE closer to the release. Once results are out, you can work out your rank points (UAS) to see which NUS, NTU and SMU courses they reach.
SEAB requires you to report to your examination centre at least 30 minutes before the paper starts, and to be seated at your assigned desk at least 15 minutes before it begins. For Listening Comprehension papers (Mother Tongue and foreign languages) you must be seated at least 30 minutes before. Allow for travel delays: you will not be given any make-up time if you are late, and if you arrive after the paper has ended you will be marked "Absent". Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 4.1).
If you report late, you are not given any make-up or extra time โ you simply lose the time you missed. If you reach the centre only after the paper has already ended, you will not be allowed to sit it and will receive an "Absent" grade for that subject. Science practicals are stricter: if you report after the reporting time for your allocated shift, you may not be allowed to sit the practical at all. If something delays you, still get to your centre as quickly as you safely can. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 4.1 and 7.3).
SEAB has a Major Disruptions policy that covers train service disruptions, massive traffic jams and floods on an examination day. First, still make your way to your designated centre โ if you arrive before the paper ends, you are given the full paper duration. If you cannot reach your designated centre before the paper ends, you may instead go to the nearest examination centre to sit the paper. In a major MRT disruption you do not need an excuse letter or travel chit from the station โ follow the station's bridging-transport instructions. School candidates should inform their school; private candidates should notify SEAB. Note that for Science practical, Music practical, Art and foreign-language papers you must still report to your designated centre. SEAB lists exam centres near MRT/LRT stations on its train disruption advice page. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 5.3).
Bring your hardcopy entry proof and your photo identification (NRIC, FIN or passport) โ both must be placed on your desk throughout the paper โ along with permitted stationery, an approved calculator for papers where one is allowed, and any subject-specific materials your school has told you to prepare. Leave unauthorised items out of the exam premises entirely: mobile phones, smart watches, fitness trackers, earbuds, and any notes or reference materials. Confirm the exact permitted-items list with your school or the SEAB regulations (section 3) before exam day.
Only calculator models on SEAB's approved list may be used, and only in papers where calculators are permitted (they are not allowed in General Paper, for example). You are responsible for your calculator working โ a malfunction is not accepted as grounds for special consideration โ and any formulae, notes or covers with information must be removed. Check the current SEAB approved-calculator list and bring fresh batteries. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 3.17โ3.18).
If you are well enough, sit the paper โ you generally must complete at least 50% of a subject's paper weighting to be eligible for special consideration (SC). See a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council and get a medical certificate or letter that states a diagnosis and covers the exam date; MCs without a diagnosis are not accepted. Tell your school before the paper starts or immediately after (school candidates), or notify SEAB (private candidates), and submit the SC application with documents within 3 working days of the affected paper โ by 2 December 2026 for the year-end papers. If you are hospitalised or have a contagious illness, inform your school or SEAB after seeing a doctor; SEAB may arrange for you to sit the paper in hospital or at a designated centre. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 5.1โ5.2).
Yes โ private candidates sit the same papers on the same dates shown in this timetable. However, registration windows, examination-centre assignment and some administrative steps differ from school candidates. Refer to SEAB for private-candidate registration details and deadlines.

Yes. The revised science syllabuses are first examined in 2026 and are the ones shown throughout this timetable: H2 Chemistry 9476, H2 Physics 9478 and H2 Biology 9477. The previous codes (9729, 9749, 9744) have their final examination in 2026. SEAB schedules both at exactly the same dates, times and durations, so the schedule below is correct whichever code appears on your Entry Proof. H2 Art was also revised to 9357, sat on the same 2 November slot. H2 Mathematics (9758) and H2 Economics (9570) were not revised. The codes 9820, 9814, 9813, 9816 and 9809 are H3 subjects (H3 Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics), advanced extension papers taken alongside the matching H2 subject, not revised H2 syllabuses.
Most 2026 candidates sit the revised syllabuses: H2 Chemistry 9476, H2 Physics 9478 and H2 Biology 9477. Those are the codes shown throughout this timetable. The previous codes (9729, 9749, 9744) are being examined for the final time in 2026, and SEAB has scheduled them at identical dates and times, so your papers fall on the same days regardless. Check the code printed on your Entry Proof for certainty, and confirm with your JC if it differs from what you expected. H2 Mathematics (9758) and H2 Economics (9570) were not revised.
