Parent's checklist for the 2026 A-Levels
before, during, after
Before the papers
- Look at your child's Entry Proof together. It lists their subjects, papers, dates, times and venue (SEAB rules 2.2.5).
- For each science practical, the school gives the shift, venue and reporting time at least 7 days before (2.2.3).
- Check the calculator model is on SEAB's approved list (3.17).
On each exam day
- They report at least 30 minutes before the paper starts and are seated 15 minutes before. Late arrivals get no extra time (4.1).
- They bring the hardcopy Entry Proof (or the practical schedule) and their NRIC, FIN or passport (2.2.6).
- If train services are disrupted, they still go. If they cannot reach their centre before the paper ends, they can sit it at the nearest centre and should tell the school. This does not apply to science practicals, Music practicals, Art or foreign-language papers, where they must still go to their own centre (5.3).
If they are unwell
- See a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council and get a certificate that states a diagnosis.
- Tell the school before or straight after the paper, and apply within 3 working days.
- The final deadlines are 27 October (practicals) and 2 December (November papers) (5.2).
After the last paper
- Results are expected tentatively between 19 and 23 February 2027 (SEAB, MOE); the exact date is announced through the media.
- Results come through the school and SEAB's Candidates Portal with Singpass (6.1.1).
- Work out rank points with the RP calculator.

2026 A-Level Revision Timeline for Singapore JC Students
The 2026 examination season runs for 179 days, from 2 June to 27 November, but the workload is nowhere near evenly spread. Counting all 154 papers across all 64 subjects, this is how they fall.
98 of the season's 154 papers, about two thirds, fall in the final four weeks. Everything before November is either a language paper, an oral, or a practical, which is why a plan built around "the A-Levels start in November" misses the papers in June, September and October.
Content mastery, before anything is examinable
No national papers are scheduled in this window. It is the last stretch in which you can still be learning content rather than retrieving it. If you take Mother Tongue, your first A-Level paper is on 2 June.
Mid-year language papers
Nine papers fall in June and thirteen in July. H1 Mother Tongue written papers open the season on 2 June, listening comprehension follows on 7 July, and oral examinations run from 8 to 15 July. H2 Theatre Studies and Drama practicals occupy six days from 13 to 20 July.
If you take Mother Tongue, the June holidays are not a free revision block. If you do not, they are the longest uninterrupted stretch you will get before the prelims, and the timetable will not offer another one.
Prelims, then the September orals
Preliminary examinations are set by each junior college, not by SEAB. They do not appear in the national timetable, they are not published centrally, and the dates differ from school to school. Your own school calendar is the only authority on this, which is why searching for a national prelim date returns nothing official.
What is nationally scheduled in September: foreign language orals on 23, 24 and 25 September, H2 Music practicals from 28 to 30 September, and foreign language written papers on 30 September. Fifteen papers in total, all of them affecting a narrow group of candidates.
Science practicals and the eleven-day gap
H2 Computing Paper 2 is on 7 October. The science practicals follow: Chemistry on 14 October, Physics on 19 October, Biology on 22 October, each conducted in three shifts at a centre SEAB assigns to you individually.
Then comes the single most useful structural fact in the whole timetable. From the last science practical on 22 October to the first written paper on 2 November there are eleven clear days. For a science student this is the only substantial block of unexamined time between the start of practicals and the end of the season.
The main written window
Written papers run from 2 to 27 November. That is a 26-day window containing only 19 actual exam days, so seven days carry no papers at all nationally, though which of those are free for you depends entirely on your subject combination.
The load is front-heavy. The first week alone (2 to 6 November) carries General Paper, both H1 and H2 Mathematics Paper 1, Economics Paper 1, Literature, Knowledge and Inquiry and the Mother Tongue Language and Literature papers. 5 November is the densest day in the entire season with twelve different papers scheduled, although no individual candidate sits more than a handful of them.
The season closes with H1 and H2 Physics Paper 1 on the morning of 27 November. Most candidates finish earlier: a student taking Chemistry, Biology, General Paper, Mathematics and Economics is done on 26 November, and many arts combinations finish sooner still.
What the dates cannot tell you
This page is a schedule, not a study plan. How long any subject needs depends on your own starting point, and the timetable says nothing about prelim results, school study breaks or the pace of your own cohort. Two things it does settle definitively: which days you sit papers, and how much clear time falls between them. Everything else is a judgement for you, your tutors and your school.
2026 A-Level Exam Dates: Frequently Asked Questions

When do the 2026 A-Levels end?
The 2026 Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level examinations end on Friday, 27 November 2026. The very last paper is H1 and H2 Physics Paper 1 (multiple choice), from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. Most candidates finish earlier than that, because 27 November is the last paper of the whole season rather than of any one subject. A student taking Chemistry, Biology, General Paper, Mathematics and Economics finishes on 26 November, and many arts combinations finish sooner still. Select your own subjects in the tool above to see the date your papers actually finish.
When do the 2026 A-Levels start?
The 2026 examination season starts on Tuesday, 2 June 2026 with the H1 Mother Tongue Language written papers (Chinese, Malay and Tamil). Listening comprehension follows on 7 July and orals run from 8 to 15 July. The main written window, which is what most students mean by the start of the A-Levels, opens on Monday, 2 November 2026 with General Paper Paper 1. Science practicals fall in between: Chemistry on 14 October, Physics on 19 October and Biology on 22 October.
When are the 2026 A-Level results released?
SEAB and MOE both say the 2026 GCE A-Level results will be released tentatively between Friday, 19 February 2027 and Tuesday, 23 February 2027. SEAB confirms the actual date only when all processes are complete, and announces it through the media. For comparison, the 2025 results were released on Friday, 27 February 2026 at 2.30pm, and candidates could view them on SEAB's Candidates Portal from 3.15pm. School candidates receive their results through their school on release day and can also view them on the Candidates Portal with Singpass. Once your results are out, you can work out your rank points (UAS) with the RP calculator to see which NUS, NTU and SMU courses they reach. What time should I arrive for my A-Level exam?
SEAB requires you to report to your examination centre at least 30 minutes before the paper starts, and to be seated at your assigned desk at least 15 minutes before it begins. For Listening Comprehension papers (Mother Tongue and foreign languages) you must be seated at least 30 minutes before. Allow for travel delays: you will not be given any make-up time if you are late, and if you arrive after the paper has ended you will be marked "Absent". Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 4.1).
What happens if I'm late for my A-Level exam?
If you report late, you are not given any make-up or extra time: you simply lose the time you missed. If you reach the centre only after the paper has already ended, you will not be allowed to sit it and will receive an "Absent" grade for that subject. Science practicals are stricter: if you report after the reporting time for your allocated shift, you may not be allowed to sit the practical at all. If something delays you, still get to your centre as quickly as you safely can. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 4.1 and 7.3).
What happens if there's a train breakdown, bus delay or traffic jam on exam day?
SEAB has a Major Disruptions policy that covers train service disruptions, massive traffic jams and floods on an examination day. First, still make your way to your designated centre. If you arrive before the paper ends, you are given the full paper duration. If you cannot reach your designated centre before the paper ends, you may instead go to the nearest examination centre to sit the paper. In a major MRT disruption you do not need an excuse letter or travel chit from the station; follow the station's bridging-transport instructions. School candidates should inform their school; private candidates should notify SEAB. Note that for Science practical, Music practical, Art and foreign-language papers you must still report to your designated centre. SEAB lists exam centres near MRT/LRT stations on its train disruption advice page. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (section 5.3).
What should I bring to the A-Level exam?
Bring your hardcopy entry proof and your photo identification (NRIC, FIN or passport), which must both stay on your desk throughout the paper, along with permitted stationery, an approved calculator for papers where one is allowed, and any subject-specific materials your school has told you to prepare. Leave unauthorised items out of the exam premises entirely: mobile phones, smart watches, fitness trackers, earbuds, and any notes or reference materials. Confirm the exact permitted-items list with your school or the SEAB regulations (section 3) before exam day.
Which calculators are allowed in the A-Level exam?
Only calculator models on SEAB's approved list may be used, and only in papers where calculators are permitted (they are not allowed in General Paper, for example). You are responsible for your calculator working (a malfunction is not accepted as grounds for special consideration), and any formulae, notes or covers with information must be removed. Check the current SEAB approved-calculator list and bring fresh batteries. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 3.17–3.18).
What happens if I'm ill on A-Level exam day? (Special Consideration)
If you are well enough, sit the paper: you generally must complete at least 50% of a subject's paper weighting to be eligible for special consideration (SC). See a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council and get a medical certificate or letter that states a diagnosis and covers the exam date; MCs without a diagnosis are not accepted. Tell your school before the paper starts or immediately after (school candidates), or notify SEAB (private candidates), and submit the SC application with documents within 3 working days of the affected paper. SEAB will not accept any application after Tuesday, 27 October 2026 for the science practicals, or after Wednesday, 2 December 2026 for the November papers. If you are hospitalised or have a contagious illness, inform your school or SEAB after seeing a doctor; SEAB may arrange for you to sit the paper in hospital or at a designated centre. Source: SEAB GCE A-Level Examination Rules & Regulations (sections 5.1 to 5.2.7).
Can private candidates use this A-Level timetable?
Yes. Private candidates sit the same papers on the same dates shown in this timetable. However, registration windows, examination-centre assignment and some administrative steps differ from school candidates. Refer to SEAB for private-candidate registration details and deadlines.
What if two of my A-Level papers clash?
SEAB's 2026 timetable, its examination rules and its Important Dates page do not set out a procedure for timetable clashes. Your Entry Proof lists the subjects and papers you are registered for, with their dates and times (SEAB rules, section 2.2.5). If two of your papers appear to be in the same slot, school candidates should ask their school, and private candidates should contact SEAB through go.gov.sg/askus-seab (SEAB rules, section 1.6). One pair looks like a clash but may not be: SEAB lists H2 Literature in English (9539) Paper 2 and Paper 3 in the same slot, Wednesday 11 November, 8:00 to 11:00 AM, so check your Entry Proof for which you sit. To see which of your papers fall close together, tick your subjects in the tool above.
Are any 2026 A-Level papers on a public holiday?
No. None of the papers in SEAB's 2026 timetable falls on a date in the Ministry of Manpower's list of 2026 public holidays. Deepavali is on Sunday, 8 November 2026, and SEAB has scheduled no paper on 8 or 9 November: the written papers run until Friday, 6 November and resume on Tuesday, 10 November. The revised codes, H2 Chemistry 9476, H2 Physics 9478 and H2 Biology 9477, are the ones shown throughout this timetable. The previous codes (9729, 9749, 9744) are being examined for the final time in 2026, and SEAB has scheduled them at identical dates and times, so your papers fall on the same days regardless. Check the code printed on your Entry Proof for certainty, and confirm with your JC if it differs from what you expected. H2 Mathematics (9758) and H2 Economics (9570) were not revised.
